  Are there any fees involved with Gateway’s Visa Debit Card?

A monthly access fee of $5 per month applies to the Visa Debit Card.  This fee will be charged to your linked Everyday Savings account on the 1st of every month.  This access fee is in place to recover fees charged to Gateway. The monthly fee will be waived if you also have a Loan or Edge Account with Gateway.

  Which Gateway accounts can I access using my Visa Debit Card?

Your Visa Debit Card can only be linked to an EquitiSmart Acccount, Everyday Savings AccountEdge Account or a 100% Loan Offset Account.

  Can I change the savings account my Visa Debit card is linked to?

Yes - Gateway’s Visa Debit Card can be linked to an Everyday Savings Account, Edge Account or 100% Loan Offset Account. If you would like to change the account your Visa Debit Card is currently linked to you can do so by calling us on 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST).

  How can I change my PIN?
Your PIN can be changing by visiting Gateway's office at Level 16, 2 Market Street or at any participating Cashcard ATM
  Can I use my Visa Debit Card overseas?

Yes - you can use your Visa Debit Card overseas at ATMs or EFTPOS terminals wherever VISA is accepted. The microchip embedded in your card ensures secure transactions and enhanced fraud protection while you are overseas. Gateway recommends that you advise us if you are intending on travelling overseas and using your card. Overseas transaction fees will apply.

  Can I use my Visa Debit Card to pay bills over the phone?

Yes - your Visa Debit Card can be used to pay bills wherever Visa is accepted.

  Can my partner get a card as a joint account holder?

If you have a joint Everyday Savings Account, Edge Account or 100% Loan Offset Account, you and your partner can have a Visa Debit Card each linked to that account.

  How do I activate my new Visa Debit Card?

There are three ways to activate your Visa Debit Card immediately:

Option 1:  Online
Simply login to Online Banking, select the “Activate your card" option from the Services menu and then enter your Card Number and Expiry Date. If you do not have access to Online Banking, simply call us on 1300 302 474 to register.

Option 2: CUE Call
Simply call 1300 302 474 and choose the CUE Call option, enter your Member number, access code and then choose the card activation option.  You will then be required to input your Card Number and Expiry Date.

Option 3: Call Gateway
Simply call 1300 302 474(Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST) and talk to a Gateway Member Consultant.

  How do I apply for a Visa Debit Card?

Please call us on 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST).

  How long does it take to close a Visa Debit Card and account?

Once Gateway receives your request to cancel your Visa Debit Card and/or close your linked account your card will be cancelled immediately.  However, your Everyday Savings Account, Edge Account or 100% Loan Offset Account will need to remain open for 45 days allowing time for any unprocessed Visa transactions to come through.

  I have direct debits and payments loaded against my existing Visa Debit Card, will these automatically change to the new card?

You will need to contact the payee (e.g. fitness club, utility provider, financial institution) and advise them of your new Gateway Visa Debit Card number and expiry date. If you do not change your payment arrangements to your new Gateway Visa Debit Card, they may be declined. If you require assistance changing your payments, please contact Gateway on 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST).

  If I suspect someone has stolen my password or used it to make fraudulent purchases, what should I do?

Contact Gateway immediately on 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST).

  My Visa Debit Card has been lost or stolen, what do I need to do?

Call us on 1300 302 474 to speak to a Member Consultant, if you call us outside our normal working hours 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST) there will be a menu option to report your card lost/stolen. Alternatively, call the Visa Hotline on 1800 139 241.

  Once I have applied for my Visa Debit Card, how long will it take to receive it?:

Both your new card and PIN will arrive separately at your postal address within 5 – 10 business days.

  What account option do I use at an ATM or when using EFTPOS?

Gateway encourages you to use the Credit (CR) option whenever available.  When withdrawing from an ATM please select Savings (SAV).If taking cash out while making a purchase via EFTPOS the Savings (SAV) option must be selected and a PIN entered. When using Visa payWave, you will not be asked to select Credit or Savings, as the transaction is contactless.

  What are the benefits of having a Gateway Visa Debit Card?

The Gateway Visa Debit Card enables you to access your own money anytime, via ATMs and EFTPOS. You can make purchases and pay bills online, over the phone and wherever VISA merchant is accepted in Australia and worldwide.

  What ATMs can I use with this card?

The Gateway Visa Debit Card is accepted at all ATMs that accept Visa.  However, to minimise fees charged to you by third parties we recommend that you use Westpac ATMs (including Westpac, St George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA).

  What do I do if I forget my PIN and cannot visit the branch?

If you are unable to visit our branch to change your PIN simply contact Gateway on 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST) and we can arrange a new card and PIN to be issued to you.

  What do I do if my card is damaged?

Call us on 1300 302 474 (Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST). A replacement card will be posted to you within 7 – 10 business days. Fees & Charges apply.

  What is the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit?

The daily cash withdrawal limit is set at $1,000 per day.

  Can the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit be changed?

Gateway will consider a temporary or permanent increase or decrease to the daily cash withdrawal limit upon your request.  Call us on 1300 302 474 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm EST).

  What is the difference between a Visa Debit Card and Visa Credit Card?

Our Visa Debit Card uses funds within your account whereas Visa Credit Cards offered by other financial institutions provide you with a credit limit which can be used and paid for at a later date.

  What is Visa payWave?

Visa payWave is the latest in contactless, secure transaction technology that allows you to make instant lower value purchases without entering a PIN. You just need to ‘wave and go’ by holding your Gateway Visa Debit Card against any available Visa payWave reader for instant purchases under $100. Please note that daily transaction limits will apply to payWave transactions and you may need to enter your PIN once this limit has been exhausted.

  Where can I find fee-free ATMs?

You can find all fee free ATMs using our ATM locator service on our Gateway 2go App and website. Gateway’s fee free ATM network includes Westpac's network of ATMs (including Westpac, St George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA).

  What is ATM Direct Charging?

ATM direct charging means that if you use another bank's ATMs - or in our case non Westpac ATMs (Westpac, St.George, BankSA or Bank of Melbourne) ATMs - you will be charged directly by that bank, rather than by Gateway. For example if you use NAB ATMs, then NAB will charge you for using their ATM at the point of transaction.

  What is a merchant?

A merchant is a business whom you purchase goods and/or services from.

  What do I do if a merchant places a booking hold on my funds when I have paid for the goods or service by another means?
You will have to contact the merchant, you may need to provide proof of purchase before the hold is removed.
