Paul Thomas
Chief Executive Officer

Paul has had a long and accomplished career in financial services.  He joined Gateway in March 2005 as CEO and since that time has driven its transformation into a leading Australian credit union. 

Under Paul’s leadership, Gateway has grown from an institution with little brand recognition to a recognised and respected name in the financial services sector.  Paul has taken Gateway to the leading edge in the use of social media tools through his weekly CEO blogs and podcasts which have helped position him as a thought leader. 

Beyond his duties at Gateway, Paul is actively involved in the broader credit union movement and financial services sector as a speaker and writer.  Paul holds an MBA with distinction and is a keen ocean swimmer. 

Gary English
Chief Operating Officer

Gary is directly responsible for the Member facing areas of Gateway’s business including our Lending and Member Services teams. Gary also oversees our Product and Marketing team to ensure a close alignment of our product and service offerings to the requirements of Members.

Prior to joining Gateway in 2006, Gary held a series of executive roles with major financial institutions, primarily in the areas of Retail and Corporate lending. He also operated a successful consultancy business assisting small to medium enterprises achieve their strategic and operational goals.

Gary holds a Masters Degree in Financial Services Management from Macquarie University.

He remains an eternally optimistic supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He assures us their day will come!

Peter Gilmore
Chief Financial Officer

Peter is our Chief Financial Officer, a CPA responsible for the Credit Union’s support functions: Finance, Treasury, Business Systems, Risk & Compliance and Collections. He also acts as the lead Company Secretary.

Prior to joining Gateway in November 2006, Peter held senior finance executive roles in major global businesses across a number of industries including retail banking, industrial gas manufacturing and shipping.

When not spending time with his family, Peter tries to stay fit enough to occasionally indulge his life-long interest in trekking in the Himalaya.
